Break-in Period

Let your shoes get to know you

As with any other sole mate, it takes a little time to become acquainted with one another.

It's normal for new shoes to feel tight around the toes, rub at the heel and pinch a little bit with every step. Because leather is an organic material and it stretches as it adapts to your feet, every new pair of shoes requires a break-in period. This is standard practice for high-quality shoes and guarantees your comfort and satisfaction in the long run. The break-in time depends on your choice of style, sole, leather and personal preferences for how you like your shoes to feel, but it will typically be between 3 and 4 weeks. Because your comfort is important to us, as it allows you to be yourself without constraints, we have put together a week-by-week guide to help you out.

Number 1
Week

Wear your shoes for only a couple of hours every second day, in order to allow both your shoes and your feet to rest. Feet swell naturally during the day, so make sure to wear them both in the morning and in the afternoon. In the beginning you can expect a bit of stiffness and you might get a few blisters, but being that Blake construction is not intended to be overly rigid, it should not last long.

Number 2-3
Week

Keep wearing your shoes every second day, increasing time as the weeks go by. Depending on the thickness of the sole and your choice of leather, your shoes should start to feel more comfortable at this point. At the end of the third week you should get a sense of how your shoes will feel when the break-in period is over.

Number 4
Week

By now, your shoes and feet have had time to get to know one another, and your shoes should fit like a glove. You are ready to walk your own path every single day.
